A trip to Morocco is a journey to a magical, romantic, vital and complex land.

One of my favorite countries, and I make no secret of it, close to Europe, easy, fast and cheap to reach, a journey that tastes exotic just around the corner and even if you have 5 days or 7, the result of a trip to this splendid country will be a complex and varied vision of a land cradle of stories and legends.
But when to go? How to get organized? What is the useful information to best organize a trip to the country where the scenarios of the Arabian Nights seem to become reality?
I’ll handle that! Below is a list of useful information for organizing a trip to Morocco.

Climate in Morocco – When to travel

Morocco enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate in the north and along the coast, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. The climate is very varied.

Within and to the south of the country, the proximity of the Sahara it makes the climate drier, with very little rainfall and a notable temperature range, which causes a drop in temperature during the night hours. Summers in the south are scorchingbut with a dry climate.
Winters, on the other hand, are pleasant with mild temperatures during the day and cold during the night.

In central and mountainous regions, the summers are pleasant, the winters cold with snow on the high peaks. Consistent rainfall in the North during the winter, in autumn and early spring, which also partly affects the South of the country.

The most pleasant months to travel to the Merzouga desert are March, April, May, October and November

Clothing for a trip to Morocco

For a trip to Morocco a comfortable and sporty clothing, flat shoes or sandals in summer for both hiking and camel trekking. Always bring a sweatshirt and windbreaker for desert nights and cooler evenings. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen.

In winter it is necessary to bring warm and practical garmentswhile in spring and autumn mid-season garments will be used.
It may be useful to bring an alarm clock, a flashlight, some wet wipesa sleeping bag (for nights in the desert in winter, even if blankets are provided the temperature range can be large and the sleeping bag could save!)

Languages spoken in Morocco

The official language of Morocco is Arabic, but French and English are understood and spoken almost everywhere. To tell the truth, Italian is also widely spoken in the main tourist places.

Documents and Visas

To enter Morocco you need a valid passport and no payment is required upon arrival at the airport. A visa is not required for stays of less than three months.

Vaccinations

No vaccinations are required to travel to Morocco.
However, it is recommended to equip yourself with protective sun cream, intestinal antiseptic (diarrhea risk is always around the corner), as well as any medicines for personal use.
Be careful not to drink water from taps but always from bottles and do not eat fruit without peeling it.

Currency/Exchange

The official currency of Morocco is the Dirham, equal to approximately 0.10 Euro. It is advisable to exchange money directly in Morocco, here is the exchange rate in both banks and hotels, without commissions. Credit cards are often accepted.

Telephone and internet in Morocco

Italian cell phones work perfectly in Morocco both for receiving and sending calls and messages.
Internet is practically everywhere, except in the desert, and it works very well, most Riads in the main cities offer wifi.

Moroccan cuisine

Traditional Moroccan cuisine is considered one of the best in the Arab world, and rightly so.
Local specialties are tajinea stew of chicken, lamb or mutton cooked with vegetables and fruit, flavored with spices and olives, the cous cousa dish based on steamed semolina grains, accompanied by meat and vegetables, theto thethick legume soup, brochette, grilled meat skewers, salads of various kinds.
Don’t forget to try the various desserts made with almonds, honey and dates. And the delicious orange juice.
