We recommend that you also visit the holy city of Pushkar as it is almost an hour away from Ajmer. Pushkar Lake is the cynosure – in the city, on the religious map and in the visitor’s itinerary.

Van Jaipur: Taxis from Jaipur cost around INR 800 to INR 1,000 and there are buses from Sindhi Camp bus station for Ajmer.

Jodhpur: The Third Abode

Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The ancient city that gives it the name Blue City is in the north, around the Mehrangarh Fort, one of the most famous places to visit in Jodhpur.

While Jodhpur can be covered in a relaxed manner in two or three days, you can also visit the main attractions in the city in one day.

Jaisalmer: The Fourth Pick No one can be immune to the charms of Jaisalmer. The very first glimpse of the golden fort of Jaisalmer, which takes the place of pride in the sandy landscape, is mesmerizing.

Jaisalmer is a small walkable town and the fort built on a small hill called Trikuta is its essence. The neutral colors of the desert landscape and the radiance of the traditional lives are the highlights of Jaisalmer.

Van Jodhpur: It takes about 5 hours from Jodhpur to reach Jaisalmer by road and you can opt for a bus or taxi ride depending on your budget and preference. Taxi charges vary during peak season and normally, the regular fare is around INR 3,000 to INR 4,000. As far as train options are concerned, there are a number of trains from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, including the most famous Jodhpur-Jaisalmer Express.

Bikaner: The Last One! The historic city of Bikaner has been largely ignored by the average traveller, despite its beautiful havelis and palaces. It is a city less known for its architectural splendor – although these are really great, and more for the home taste. Bikaneri bhujia has become an export product in recent years. Still, this city could be one of your finest finds if you’re interested in the romance of its heritage and your less-familiar destination.

Some of the famous local landmarks include Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Junagarh Fort Museum, major havelis and temples. With so much to explore, a trip to Bikaner could be one of your 10 reasons to visit Rajasthan.

Van Jaisalmer: Opt for a private cabin if you want a luxurious ride to yourself. There are also trains between the two cities.
