Sydney is the largest city in Australia, the style that characterizes the two cities is very different, as is the lifestyle.
If in fact Melbourne reminds me in some way Berlin Sydney on the other hand has something I don’t know what about New York mixed in London.

In this post I want to list the free things to do to see and discover the best of Sydney literally without spending a penny.
Sydney is easy to get around on foot and you can do it on your own, with a map in hand and it will be easy to find the way for a first walk and then on the second it will be easy to orient yourself even without a map in your bag.

But know that daily and twice a day, at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm, there are free tours of the city.
Il tour dura 3 ore during which you cross the main places of the city. The visit tells of Sydney, a city born as a place for English prisoners up to what is the current metropolis.
You don’t have to book in advance, just show up on time. The meeting point is the anchor (a huge anchor) between the Town Hall e St Andrews Cathedral.
The tour will take you to the Royal Opera House, The Rocks (considered to be the landing place of the English when they discovered Australia), Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney Tower, Harbor Bridge, Cicular Quay, Martin Place and will also suggest free things to do from alone to discover the city which is so big that you will feel like you haven’t had enough time to get around it properly.

- Manly Art Gallery – Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm
- Museum of Australian currency notes – Open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. The history of Australian banknotes from the beginning.
- Sydney Fish Market – Open from 7am to 4pm. Excellent fish at good prices, a must for eating well without spending a fortune
- Art Gallery of NSW – Open from 10am to 5pm every day
- Royal Botanic Gardens – Open every day from 7am until sunset. Splendid park where locals go jogging and where they can get lost among manicured gardens, reproductions of rainforests and tropical gardens
- Australian Center of Photography – Open from 12pm to 7pm from Tuesday to Friday and from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday
- Custom House – Open every day until midnight
- Parliament House – Open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
- Sydney Observatory – Open from 10am to 5pm every day
